Additional capabilities for traffic management

Traffic counting (counter) with passing line and vehicle type classification

One of the additional features of this system is traffic counting with respect to different parameters such as time periods, day or night, vehicle type and the class (heavy or light), passing lane, violation type, license plate type (public, governmental, …) etc. These data provide a complete statistic for traffic management.

According to the detection of all passing vehicles, it is also possible to provide the other required reports in this system.

Average trip time computing

Since the passage time of every vehicle from each speed camera site is recorded (with statistical concerns), calculation of the average trip time would be possible. Average trip time is also a very useful parameter for traffic management.

Instantaneous speed trend

Besides the average trip time, instantaneous speed is also measured at each speed camera site (or for all selected cameras). Instantaneous speed trend can be driven for a desired time period and this parameter can also be widely used in traffic management.

Classification of traffic parameters for private and public vehicles

Considering distinguishable license plate types (public or private), it is possible to extract different parameters:

•   Traffic counting for different types
•   Average speed for different types
•   Instantaneous speed trend for different types
•   Mean trip time for bus/taxi
•   Light to heavy vehicles ratio
•   Public to private vehicles ratio

Traffic load and accident control

Since this system can be a traffic counter, it can also be used in order to control traffic load and accident occurrence prediction, based on the unexpected changes in traffic flow. Some Parameters like traffic jam detection and sudden traffic changes between sequential speed cameras can be the indicators of an incident.
