The necessity of applying this system

Today, along with the ever-increasing population and, consequently vehicles’ numbers, accidents, injuries and fatalities are also increased. A significant number of accidents are related to crossing the red light and ignorance to the priority at intersections.

The research results of the Highway Safety Institute in the United States show that ignoring the red light signal and unallowable crossing from intersections are the most common reasons for accidents and accounts for more than 20% of intra-city accidents, and this alone accounts for a large number of intersection accidents. 800 persons are killed each year and the financial loss is about 7 billion dollars, including loss of property, cost of treatment, reduction of productivity and insurance companies’ payments.

Cameras have been applied in order to control the red lights at intersections for more than 40 years and has become more popular over the past few years. Policemen claim that these systems, besides developing the communication systems, can be as an important disincentive for driving violation. Additionally, these systems are a beneficial source of revenue for the government.
